Cornell Law School can send up to two students to the Department of Legal Studies at the Central European University (CEU) each semester.

CEU is an internationally recognized institution of post-graduate education in social sciences and humanities, which operates pursuant to a charter from the Board of Regents of the State of New York. Cornell students study at the Department of Legal Studies, in Budapest, Hungary.
With a population of over two million people (one in five Hungarians live there), Budapest is a cosmopolitan world capital. The center of Hungarian government and business life, Budapest is also a university city and abounds in parks, restaurants and entertainment. It is also an extremely beautiful place. UNESCO has placed Buda Castle and the city’s Danube River panorama on the World Cultural Heritage List.
Academic Calendar:
Students may participate in exchanges during the Fall or Spring semesters, CEU operates on a “module” system. In the 2008-09 academic year, the modules were as follows:
Fall Semester
Module I: 18 August to 11 September 2008 (Note: classes in this module are not appropriate for an exchange semester)
Module II: 22 September to 22 October 2008
Module III: 3 November to 5 December 2008
“Research” Semester
Module IV: 5 January to 19 February 2009
Spring Semester
Module V: 30 March to 7 May 2009
Module VI: 18 May to 17 June 2009
Cornell students wishing to attend CEU during the Spring semester should plan to enroll in courses during Modules IV and V
Cornell students wishing to attend CEU during the Fall semester should plan to enroll in courses during Modules II and III.
Sample Courses:

10 CEU credits equal 12 Cornell credits.
