Inter-University Graduate Conference

The Fifth Cornell Inter-University Graduate Student Conference will be hosted by the graduate students at Cornell Law School in Ithaca, New York on Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28, 2009.

In response to the highly successful 4th Cornell Inter-University Conference last spring, a “Call for Papers” was sent out inviting papers from graduate law students throughout the country and the world. The selection committee reviewed all of the abstracts very carefully and selected 25 papers for presentation. Last year students from Cornell, Columbia, Harvard, NYU, Penn, American, Fordham and BYU presented 26 papers at the conference. This year 25 papers will be presented by students from 12 universities.

This year the presentation panels will be composed by grouping similarly-themed papers. The conference papers (grouped by panel) are at the following link:  Conference Papers.  As in the past, papers presented at the conference may be published on the Cornell Law School working papers website.

The conference will begin with a gathering and the first panel on Friday afternoon, March 27 and then continue on Saturday, March 28, with four additional panels throughout the day featuring 4-5 panelists each. The day will include a luncheon and a final reception. Each panelist will provide a ten to fifteen minute presentation of his or her paper topic after which there will be input from the other panelists and conference attendees.

In addition to the students who will be presenting papers, we welcome students who wish to attend the conference as participants without presenting a paper. If you are interested in attending the conference, please contact us at gradconference@lawschool.cornell.edu. We hope that you can join us.
