Professor Anghie is the Samuel D Thurman Professor of Law at the S. J. Quinney College of Law, University of Utah. His research interests include public international law, international commercial transactions and human rights. He practiced in employment law, administrative law and international law in Australia, and has also worked with the IMF in Washington DC. He has served as a senior fellow at Harvard Law School, and as a visiting professor at the University of Tokyo. He has taught at several other universities including Melbourne, Auckland, and the American University in Cairo, and he lectures frequently in Sri Lanka. His publications explore various aspects of international law including the history of international law, the operations of international institutions, globalization and human rights, and the law of war. He has served on the Executive Councils of both the American Society of International Law and the Asian Society of International Law. He is a member of the advisory or editorial boards of several journals including the Chinese Journal of International Law, Human Rights and Human Welfare and International Theory. He is the author of Imperialism, Sovereignty and the Making of International Law (2005). He is a member of the Third World Approaches to International Law (TWAIL) network of scholars. He will teach Contracts and a seminar on International Law & Imperialism spring term.
