Professional Biography

Elizabeth Ainslie will be Cornell's Distinguished Practitioner in Residence during the fall of 2009, and will conduct a seminar entitled "Special Problems in Trial Practice." Named one of America's Top 50 Women Litigators by the National Law Journal, she has extensive trial experience covering a broad range of legal subjects; she has conducted trials involving issues of federal criminal law, defamation, fraud, racketeering, breach of an attorney's fiduciary duty, as well as many corporate and commercial issues. She has practiced as a federal prosecutor, a criminal defense lawyer, a partner in a small firm which she founded, and a partner in a large law firm. Ms. Ainslie has taught federal jurisdiction and trial practice in several venues and recently published an article, "Indicting Corporations Revisited: Lessons of the Arthur Andersen Prosecution," in the American Criminal Law Review.
