Professor Lehman is former President of Cornell University and former Dean of the University of Michigan Law School. He clerked for Chief Judge Frank M. Coffin of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, and for Associate Justice John Paul Stevens of the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a prolific legal scholar whose research and teaching concerns are poverty, taxation, and the American welfare state. While at University of Michigan he was one of the primary architects of the successful defense of the Law Schools admissions policy before the U.S. Supreme Court.
