Professional Biography

Sital Kalantry is an Associate Clinical Professor at Cornell Law School where she directs the International Human Rights Clinic and is co-director of the Immigration Appellate Law and Advocacy Clinic. She is also the Faculty Director of the Avon Global Center for Women and Justice at Cornell Law School. Professor Kalantry has supervised a wide array of international human rights and immigration law projects, including representing immigrants in appeals before U.S. Appeals Courts, drafting an amicus brief to the Supreme Court of the United States on behalf of Madeleine Albright, submitting a report and testifying before the Inter-American Commission on the Right to Education in Colombia, submitting an amicus brief to the European Court of Human Rights on behalf of the U.N. Special Rapporteur for Health, and drafting a training manual for trial court judges in India on international fair trial standards. She has published, among other places, in the National Law Journal and the Stanford Journal of International Law. Prior to joining Cornell Law School, she was a visiting clinical lecturer at Yale Law School where she co-taught a clinic focusing on national security and civil liberties. She also practiced private international law at two major international law firms. She received a J.D. from University of Pennsylvania Law School, a MSc from the London School of Economics, and a B.A. from Cornell University.
