Steven D. Clymer joined the Cornell Law School faculty in 1995. A 1983 graduate of Cornell Law School, Professor Clymer began his legal career investigating police corruption as an Assistant District Attorney in Philadelphia. He then served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Central District of California, where he held several supervisory positions and handled high-profile cases, including United States v. Koon, the successful federal prosecution of Los Angeles police officers charged in the beating of Rodney King. Professor Clymer has twice taken leaves of absence from Cornell to return to the Department of Justice, most recently from 2003 to 2005, when he served as the Chief of the Criminal Division for the United States Attorneys Office for the Central District of California. He teaches courses on criminal procedure, evidence, and counter-terrorism.
